The new extension to the Hospice building was designed to better accommodate the hospice at home team. This also includes a culturally sensitive sacred space at the hospice to better meet the spiritual care needs of all service users. Additional improvements to the entrance, reception area and the inclusion of a counselling room provides improved privacy to support the provision of care which maintains dignity and affords opportunities for sensitive communication and effective psychological support.

“The Phase 1 & 2 projects were very effectively managed by the Design Management Team (DMT), which was led by KKE Architects.  This £1M investment in the hospice infrastructure has significantly improved access to a high quality care environment, improved the dignity and privacy of patients and their families and contributed to an environment in which the hospice team can deliver effective person-centered care and reduce anxiety and distress in the terminal phase of illness.  Through careful management of the project by KKE and the DMT the project completed to a very high specification and within budget.  Just to cap things off, KKE’s design won two prestigious RIBA Awards”
